This project is a dedicated effort to preserve, organize, and expand the linguistic and literary heritage of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community through a digital medium.
Many valuable texts remain scattered, fragile, or difficult to access. By bringing them into structured digital form, this platform helps protect them for future generations and makes them more accessible to readers, researchers, and language learners.
One of the main goals of this project is to preserve the rich literary heritage of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community in digital form. Printed books, magazines, and rare documents are being transformed into Unicode and web-readable formats so that they are no longer lost to time, decay, or limited physical access.
This work creates a living archive where traditional literary resources can remain readable, searchable, and useful in the modern digital world.
Another major purpose of this project is to collect Bishnupriya Manipuri words and sentences in order to strengthen our dictionary project. Each processed document contributes valuable lexical and sentence-level data that can be stored, studied, and reused.
The sentence collection is especially important because it helps build a practical language corpus. A strong corpus supports future research, helps us understand real usage, and lays the groundwork for language technologies.
In the future, the data collected through this project may help us build advanced tools such as bilingual dictionaries, language learning resources, machine translation systems, and other digital tools for the Bishnupriya Manipuri language.
By combining cultural preservation with technology, this project aims to keep the language alive, visible, and useful for generations to come.
